Project Mala

A happy childhood is the foundation of life, and school days are an important part of a child’s formative years. Unfortunately, many children in India do not have the opportunity to go to school.

Project Mala provides a three year non-formal education course to children that covers grades one through five of the national education standard. Upon completion, children are certified to enter the state secondary system. In addition to the ‘four R’s’, reading, writing, arithmetic and respect, the program also focuses on personal hygiene, healthcare and nutrition, personal growth, cultural activities, and cultivating the indigenous wisdom of caring for and working within their rural village environment.

Project Mala aims to empower children with the opportunity to learn while maintaining their indigenous lifestyle.
