Protect the Magic of the Maya Rainforest
When a rainforest is cut down, it is gone forever. When it is sustainably
harvested, it lasts forever. The Rainforest Alliance is working with
communities in Guatemala’s Maya rainforest – home to endangered jaguars and
scarlet macaws - to help them harvest wood and botanicals in such a way that
the forest has a chance to regenerate itself, maintaining essential wildlife
habitat and providing an ongoing source of income. The Rainforest Alliance then
helps these impoverished communities sell their products to conscientious
businesses and consumers. With these earnings, they can now invest in
education, health care, potable water and dignified housing. It’s a win for
wildlife and a win for people.
This gift is an offering to future generations, sustaining indigenous
communities and cultures, and ensuring that our collective children and
grandchildren can share the planet with other magnificent species.
