Rainforest Action Network
Rainforest Action Network (RAN) protects our planet’s rainforests and the human
rights of those living in and around those forests. Since 1985, RAN has
campaigned to transform the global marketplace through grassroots organizing,
education and non-violent direct action. RAN's emphasis on the link between
corporate practices and rainforest destruction, and their willingness to
publicly challenge corporations in the court of public opinion, has led many
large corporations, including Citibank, Home Depot and Boise Cascade, to adopt
significantly more environmentally sustainable business practices.
RAN has played a key role in organizing and mobilizing consumers throughout the
United States. Through education, grassroots organizing and financial
contributions, RAN supports the efforts of indigenous peoples living in
threatened forest eco-systems to implement ecologically sustainable solutions
within their own regions.
ABC Home & Planet Foundation applauds the effectiveness of RAN’s grassroots
efforts, which have dramatically raised public and corporate awareness of these
critical issues. We are honored to support their ongoing work in protecting the
world’s remaining rainforest eco-systems.
