Rising Above Poverty: A Gift of Opportunity

In Uganda, there are nearly 2 million AIDS orphans struggling to survive. Many are forced to become the head of a household without support or training, and this often leads to exploitation and a life of day labor and poverty for the entire family.

Trickle Up works with The AIDS Support Organization (TASO), the largest AIDS Organisation in Uganda, to identify adult-age orphans and provide them with the necessary seed capital and training to generate income with dignity. From artisan work to furniture making to other entrepreneurial ventures, their businesses successfully enable younger siblings to stay in school and families to stay together.
