Trickle Up Program

For the last 26 years Trickle Up’s mission has been to help the lowest income people worldwide—those living on less than US$1 per day—take the first steps out of poverty, by providing seed capital, business training and support services essential to the launch of a micro-enterprise. This proven social and economic empowerment model is implemented globally, in partnership with local agencies.

Trickle Up provides a hand up, not a handout. Throughout the developing world, and in the poorest communities in the U.S., Trickle Up entrepreneurs are cooking, sewing, building, dancing, weaving, harvesting and marketing to create better lives for themselves, their children and their entire communities.

Since 1979, Trickle Up has established over 145,000 small businesses in 120 countries. More than a half-million people have benefited from their programs to date. Today, Trickle Up works in 14 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Americas, including the U.S.
