The Batonga Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to provide African girls a secondary school and higher education. The vision of Grammy Award winner, Angelique Kidjo.
Batonga girls are typically girls that have been orphaned by AIDS, are disabled, extremely poor, or otherwise disadvantaged yet are driven to succeed despite their circumstances. The vast majority would not be in school without Batonga’s support. These girls have taken on multiple obstacles and personal challenges with enormous spirit, tenacity, and dedication to their education.
Batonga implements its mission at a country level by working in partnership with existing non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have successful onsite experience in girls’ education.
The Batonga Foundation Gift of Compassion provides a girl in Benin one year of tutoring to help her thrive in secondary school.
